Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) - Pacific Islands Area ComponentOn February 1, 2008, the Pacific Islands Area (PIA) Conservation Innovation Grants Announcement was released. The NRCS PIA State Office is offering a state component of the Conservation Innovation Grant opportunity for the Pacific Islands Area (Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands). NRCS PIA State Office announces the availability of up to $275,000 for Natural Resource Concerns and Technology Components. Individual projects funded through CIG in fiscal year 2008 are being offered for grants up to $75,000. Applications are requested from eligible government or non-government organizations or individuals for competitive consideration of grant awards for projects between one and three years in duration. The deadline for submitting an application to NRCS PIA State Office is March 31, 2008, 3:00 P.M. Hawaii Standard Time (HST). Up to 20 percent of the total funds available for the Pacific Islands Area Component are set-aside for applications from Beginning and Limited Resource Farmers and Ranchers, Indian Tribes, or community-based organizations comprised of or representing these entities.
