Chief's Tour Photo Gallery Chief Arlen Lancaster made a keynote address at the 75th Anniversary of the Western Snow Conference in Kona, HI. Legislative and Public Affairs Division Director, Doug McKalip joined the Chief on NRCS project tours on various islands.

Carbon Sequestration One of the agency's Venture Goal is Clean Air. Agriculture makes a positive contribution to local air quality and the Nation's efforts to sequester carbon. This is one example from Maui.

Conservation Showcase - Ho Family Farm Wei Chong Ho has 40 acres on Oahu to farm Japanese cucumbers, long beans, squash, tomatoes, and eggplant. He and his family have been stellar land stewards for over 20 years. The conservation plan they hold with NRCS is to address weeds, insects, and plant disease by following an integrated pest management system.

Conservation Showcase - Ono Organic Farms The Boerner family was recognized by USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service as the state’s first Conservation Security Program (CSP) participants at a signing ceremony on Maui, August 31, 2005. Conservation Partners for twenty years, the Boerner Family utilizes conservation crop rotation, cover & green manure crops, and residue management practices. Ono Organic Farms is powered by a complete solar energy system which provides for the entire operation.

Energy Conservation This solar collection panel and charger is one of the projects in Saipan that illustrates the innovative ways that farmers are conserving energy.

Pacific Rim RC&D Conference The Pacific Rim Regional Association of Resource Conservation and Development Councils was held November 5-8, 2007 at the Makaha Resort in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. Please click on the link here to see photo highlights from the conference.
